Pixelink Studios Frequently Asked Questions

How does one define retouching?
What is the difference between retouching and creative retouching?

Retouching is a manipulation technique used for a variety of purposes including photo
restoration or enhancement: adjusting colors/contrast/white balance, sharpness, removing
elements or visible flaws on skin or materials. Creative retouching differs because it is used
as either an art form or for commercial use; this allows creating more lustrous and attention-
grabbing novel images for advertisements. Creative retouching can be applied to beauty, high
fashion, or advertising photography.

Who needs retouching?

Retouching is a technique that aims to perfect imperfections and accentuate the beauty in any
photo. From professional to everyday use photos to ‘Look Books’ to promotional photos on your Facebook page, if it is in the eye of the public, retouching could be a beneficial resource for you.
The price of retouching varies depending on how much work you need done to the image.

Ok, so how does the process work?

We’ve made the process as simple as possible. Just go to order page , select the type of
retouching you desire, and use the PayPal account to make your purchase!

How much does it cost to get a photo retouched?

The cost of the photo really depends on the size, quality, and retouching package of your
choice. Just select our pricing tab to learn more.

How long does it take?

Most orders are completed within 2 to 3 business days. Complex, detailed repairs may
take additional time. Pixelink Studios will start working on your photos as soon as the
uploads come in; our goal’s return your new & improved image as quickly as possible.

What settings should I use if I scan a photo?

You should use the "photo" scanning option. The resolution box should be set to high or
300 dpi. Avoid scanning your image above 300 dpi unless you plan on enlarging your image.
Make sure that both the scanner and the photo are clean and free of dust, lint, dirt, or other
debris. If you are having trouble with scanning, please contact us for further assistance and
we’ll see what we can do for you.

How big should I send my file?
What does "resolution" mean?

The best production quality is accomplished with High-Resolution photos. Resolution
actually refers to the number of dots of ink per inch (dpi) in a printed photo or the number
of electronic pixels per inch (ppi) in a digital file. You should always try to send the largest
file you have and in its ‘Original’ form. Photos that have low resolution may look fine on
the computer screen but will appear pixelated and blurry when printed.

Simply go to our order page , under step 2, fill out the form, upload your picture and our
artists will contact you with any concerns regarding quality.

After getting my pictures retouched, how do I get it printed?

Once your photos are retouched, you can have your image printed by submitting the digital
file provided by Pixelink Studios to one of the many printing website for the best quality; there
are sites we can recommend as well. You may also download the file to your home computer
and print the picture right from you very own printer if you prefer.
